have you ever sat face to face with someone and separated your mouths by one inch and opened your mouths and belted the same tone as loud and as long as you could? I used to do this with my sister on long car trips in the back of the Buick or the Green Van. . . and it gave me the strangest feeling- like our essence connected through that tone. Its an incredible feeling and I haven’t done it since I was a child. This video reminded me of it. I love the feel of the color and the bare world and the styling and the surprise ending of this video. Oh, I adore surprise endings.

One Hundred frames a day.

For the next 30 days I am taking my camera with me EVERYWHERE I go. Even the toilet. Yea, you read it right ;P Lots and lots going on in this life of mine for the next 30 days. So I suspect (much like yesterday) that when I say 100 frames a day, I really mean like 300-600. Depending on my mood. Here is 30 day to-do (& shoot) list :

1. Close on our first home

2. Play 4 sand volleyball games

3. See Shakespeare in the Park

4. Celebrate 2 of my bestfriends’ birthdays

5. Meet with a prospective Bride & Groom

6. Have our first washer and dryer and refrigerator installed

7. Pack & MOVE

8. Shoot a Wedding on Moving Day! eeeek (read the previous entry for explanation on why I would be so daring!)

9. Shoot 4 Family sessions

10. Go to a Techno Dance Festival

11. Shoot 3 more Weddings

12. Meet with two young photographers with questions about the industry

This is the list of importants standing out in my head at the moment. I am certain there will be much much more going on ~ I hope I hope.

Yesterday I went to my Father’s Aunt’s house for a belated Father’s Day celebration~ my Uncle & Aunt are in town from Florida and I went outside to play with the kids while all the “adults” were having adult-talk ;). Joan’s backyard is very pretty. And their neighbor had a tractor just glistening in the sun waiting to be used up. I hope on my death bed I can say I used me up and let my loved ones use me up and let strangers and friends use me up. I’ll always have more to give you.

Utah.is.Amazing.

Some days I wish I lived in Utah (then I remember that much of the State is dry and most restos and stores are not open past 10p!). It is full of such beauty, and hard to imagine living within monumental beauty such as Utah when I have spent most of my years in dear Kansas. My friend Erin traveled with me to Utah to help with the wedding I shot there in April. We had about a day and a half to visit the Salt Lake and Sun Dance. Incredible weather helped us enjoy the scenery throughout SLC to Provo to Mapleton to American Fork and Sun Dance. I look forward to visiting Utah again very soon. Here are just a few images of the beauty we beheld;

and we are at the Salt Lake here, so I suspect this is some form of salt…

there were so many bird skeletons strewn along the receded shoreline of the Lake, it made me sad to see these birds here consuming this overly salt saturated water

I’ll post Sun Dance in a couple of days. It was perfectly serene and exactly what we needed.

On a different note, I got an email from a photographer friend, Alea, today. Her boyfriend Piotr has been in a London hospital for I believe a couple of weeks now. They discovered that he has an aneurysm underneath his brain membrane. His incredibly invasive and delicate surgery has been scheduled and bumped. Alea had to return to London to be by his side for the surgery. Since the surgery has been bumped again she will not be in town for a wedding she was scheduled to shoot on July 3rd. So I will be shooting her wedding for her and offering my healing energy and prayers up for she and Piotr and Piotr’s doctors. I ask you to do the same. They need everything they can get at this fragile time in their lives.

A Frog Prince

I think that when my clients ask me if I have ever shot a wedding at their booked reception venue they are asking because they are thinking if I have shot there before then I will be familiar with the venue which falsely means their pictures will turn out ‘better’. Its a dirty little secret that I am keeping from them- being full of delight when I get to shoot at one of the hundreds of churches or venues around Kansas City with which I am unfamiliar. It means mystery, excitement, creativity, adventure, spinning energy. One thing I have learned about myself over the past several years is how much I ache for change. I want to see something new, eat something new, hear something new, smell something new, feel a new emotion, create a new image.

Today I accompanied Clarissa to A Frog Prince to meet with the owner and discuss her Wedding Day & her centerpieces. A Frog Prince is such a beautiful location created entirely by the highly inspired owner, Tammy. I am thrilled to be shooting Clarissa’s wedding here in just three weeks…

Heidi, the creative (& sister of Clarissa) joined us as well. It was written in the sands of time that Heidi and this room would one day find each other…
